The History of New Beginnings Church of God

In June of 1992, after a year and a half of planning, Pastor Mark and his wife Susie began a small group in their home. A core group was formed and within three months they were holding Sunday morning worship services in their garage.

While in the process of searching for a more permanent facility, they learned that a church within our conference was looking for a pastor. With Pastor Mark's passion for planting and his personal drive and leadership style, pastoring an existing church was not an option.

In order for something to work, it would have to be a God thing. You guessed it! After much prayer, discussion and planning, God brought the two groups together as one and decided that we could "plant the church" in the existing building. So we literally locked the doors of the existing church, removed any remnants of what was and opened it as New Beginnings.

In November of 1992, New Beginnings was birthed with 35 faith-filled believers. By 1995, we were packing out the facility and decided to go to two a.m. services. In 1999, it was realized that we had maxed out the facility and parking at 200 and there was no room to build. The decision was made to relocate.

The old Carter lumber site was purchased that same year and Building 1 was remodeled immediately. New Beginnings moved in January 1, 2000. We soon maxed out our 240 seat sanctuary in two services and added a third a.m. service in April of 2001.

Once again, we found ourselves in need of more space. The Phase II building project began in the spring of 2003 and was completed in August of the same year. We then moved into our newly remodeled Building 2 that was converted into a 600 seat sanctuary and attached to Building 1. An additional 9 acres of adjacent land was also purchased during this phase.

New Beginnings has since grown to an average of around 900 in weekly attendance and continues to be an effective ministry in the kingdom of God.
